Margot Potter's latest masterpiece New Dimensions in Bead and Wire Jewelry Review and Giveaway!

I get excited every time I see a new book from Margot Potter. She never fails to to inspire me and this book is no exception! In her 6th book, Margot focuses on dimensional and sculptural jewelry making projects.

The first part of this book is about the tools and materials used. The first section is "Everything you wanted to know about Wire but were afraid to ask".  The wire used in the book is not only metal wire but also beading and memory wire. There are also sections on findings/beads and tools and all are text, no photos.  The technique sections is chock full of beautiful photos of how to do all the wire work in the projects.

The 30 projects are divided into the following five chapters: Foundations, Thinking in 3D, Sculptural Concepts, Architectural Exploration and the Fifth Dimension.  Each one building upon the earlier chapters and solidifying the wire work skills of the reader.  Each project shows a variation as well, which is helpful to new jewelry makers.

My favorite projects in this book are Lepidoptera, because its so beautiful in its simplicity.  The project in the book is done in copper and its gorgeous as is. I would love to do one  in bright colored art wire as well for a different look.  Flamenco bracelet is SO colorful and gorgeous. Using hot pink Artistic wire, Margot crochets a chain then adds a number of vintage orange and hot pink components to make a really stunning bracelet.

Over all, I am really excited about this book. It's an excellent book for beginners because it walks you thru the projects clearly. It's also an excellent book for more advanced jewelry crafters as well. This book will help to hone your wire working skills and discover some new elements to add to your own creations.

I've got a copy of this book to give away to one lucky reader!!!! All you have to do is leave a comment along with your name and email about wire work, jewelry or just to give Margot a shout out.   Share the giveaway on your blog, Facebook and Twitter for extra chances to win, leave a comment with the link!

I'll pick a winner on Aug 20th by random number generator.

From the Publisher: Discover 30 stepped-out projects that explore the possibilities for using wire as a dimensional design feature as well as a structural one through combinations of both hard, soft wire and beads. In addition to basic wire-working techniques, inside New Dimensions in Bead and Wire Jewelry you'll find a thorough introduction to the various types of wire that popular author Margot Potter uses throughout the book. Projects are organized into five chapters, each with a different focus on the type of wire used. Two chapters focus on hard-wire projects, two on soft wire, and a final chapter combines the two wire types together. Troubleshooting tips are sprinkled throughout the book and three variations per chapter give you great additional inspiration!
